Have you ever thought about taking a trip on your own? Maybe you’re considering it for the first time, or perhaps you’ve already been away solo but wonder if anyone else feels the same way you do. The truth is: you are not alone. Solo travel is growing rapidly — and women are leading the way.
The Numbers Don’t Lie
Recent research by Solo Traveller shows that more than 80% of solo travellers are women. Many are in midlife or beyond, and they’re travelling for the freedom to explore on their own terms. Searches for “solo female travel” and “solo travel deals” are at record highs.
The message is clear: women are no longer waiting for someone else’s schedule to line up before they go.
A Full House in Brewood
Statistics are one thing, but nothing beats seeing it in real life. In August we hosted our very first No Stopping Her Solo Travel Meet-Up in Brewood — and the interest was incredible. Over 20 women joined us, from seasoned travellers to those nervously planning their very first trip. Some had gone through big life changes — divorce, bereavement, retirement — and were looking for a new chapter. Others simply wanted the freedom to do something for themselves.
We learned so much from out meet-up in Brewood. The room buzzed with conversation, honesty, and laughter. Practical tips flowed freely:
- Start small — perhaps a weekend away or a group tour.
- Pick destinations that feel easy at first — English-speaking countries, or places you already know,
- Don’t be afraid of hostels or shared spaces — many women found these offered unexpected friendships.
- Ignore the “aren’t you brave?” comments — travelling solo isn’t about being brave, it’s about choosing yourself.
It was proof that solo travel doesn’t mean being alone. It means being part of a growing, supportive community.
Why More Women Are Taking the Leap
From both the data and our own meet-up, it’s clear why women are embracing solo adventures:
- Freedom: to do what you want, when you want.
- Confidence: proving to yourself that you can navigate the world.
- Connection: meeting new people you might never cross paths with otherwise.
- Redefining life stages: many women use solo travel to rediscover themselves after major changes.
As one attendee said:
“I thought I’d feel alone, but I’ve never felt more connected — both to myself and to the people I meet along the way.”

At No Stopping Her, we believe solo travel should feel exciting, not overwhelming. That’s why we’re building spaces where women can share, learn, and connect:
- Community meet-ups in London and Brewood — real women, real stories, real advice.
- Expert guidance from travel professionals like me, answering your questions on safety, planning, and confidence.
- Practical resources — tips for first-timers, destination ideas, and ways to overcome common barriers.
- Inspiration — stories from women who’ve already gone solo and want to cheer you on.
Because when women support each other, the whole journey feels lighter.
